STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — The fifth annual Home Remodeling Expo hosted by the Home Improvement Contractors of Staten Island (NARI-HIC) in the Center Court of the Staten Island Mall takes place this weekend.

The exhibition — Saturday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. — will provide homeowners the opportunity to meet with a variety of NARI-HIC home remodelers and service professionals, as well as representatives from the New York City Department of Consumer Affairs.

A local chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, NARI-HIC is a nonprofit trade organization whose mission is to educate consumers on the importance of hiring licensed, insured and reputable contractors.

“The Home Remodeling Expo gives homeowners a one-stop learning and shopping experience,” said Bob Bernabe, acting president of NARI-HIC. “In addition to taking full advantage of all the show has to offer, we encourage everyone to stop by NARI-HIC’s ‘Ask the Expert’ booth in Center Court to discuss their home-remodeling ambitions with experienced NARI-HIC professionals.”

Experts in heating and air conditioning; concrete and pavers; plumbing; lighting; security systems and monitoring; kitchen and bath renovations; custom closets; windows and doors; screen rooms; fencing, and decorating will be on hand.

Attendees can stop by the NARI-HIC information booth, where they can sign up for a chance to win a $250 Staten Island Mall gift card.

“Each year, the expo proves to be wonderfully productive for homeowners seeking the level of experience and reliability offered by our members.” said Lana Seidman, executive director of the Island home improvement group.

Steve Coppola, board chairman the group, added, “Exhibitors at this year’s show will again include general contractors equipped to tackle projects of all sizes, and others who are experts in an expansive array of home-improvement products and services.”
